The Cut, Australind

The Cut is situated on the Leschenault Peninsula where the Leschenault Inlet meets the Indian Ocean at Australind Western Australia. The Cut is between Point Douro and the Indian Ocean accessible by foot off Buffalo Road or by boat.

The Cut is a 20 minute boat ride from boat ramps in the Leschenault Inlet.

  • Toilets, picnic and barbecue facilities are provided.
  • The lighting of campfires in other than designated areas is prohibited.
  • It is recommended that you take a portable gas stove for cooking.
  • You are advised to take mosquito repellent into these areas.
  • Best time to visit: All year round.
  • Pets are NOT permitted.
  • Unlicensed vehicles are not permitted on DEC estate unless in authorised areas.

Bookings do not apply at this campground. It operates on a first come – first served basis.

The prices for this campground are:

Adults $7/night; Concession card holders $5/night; Children $2/night.
A concession card holder is defined below. Children are school aged, under 16. Rangers patrol the area and collect fees daily.

Local activities

Fishing, Crabbing and Birdwatching is popular along the estuary foreshore.

You can also walk or cycle to Belvidere Beach from The Cut, a journey of about 9km one-way. This path winds through tuart and peppermint woodland and has panoramic views across the estuary to the Darling Range.
