DUE TO THE DEVISTATING FIRES IN JANUARY 2016, YARLOOP IS “NOW CLOSED” TO THE PUBLIC
Yarloop Workshops is a major south west attraction and is part of the Working Life Heritage Trail.
A century ago, timber was the state’s biggest industry. Throughout Australia’s South West, felled trees were sent to mills and processed for export. At every stage, steam engines provided the power. For nearly a century, Yarloop Workshops was the heart of this industry. At its peak 100 people worked here. Be fascinated by the saw doctors shop, steam locomotives and steam generators, the vast and haunting main workshop and the treasure trove that is the patternmaker’s shop.
A craft shop and cafe are located on site. Guided tours available on Live Steam Days.
