The Harvey Tourist Precinct is a very popular tourist destination for that touch of something different. The picturesque ‘Harvey Heritage Gardens’ and river walk are a delight. Wanderer Butterflies are floating around the busy garden. The edge of the garden is surrounded by the Harvey River which allows you to walk the river edge which takes approximately 7 minutes.
Our ‘Hidden Valley’ is a room full of recorded stories of 3 homesteads that were below water level when the new dam was built on the Harvey River 2000-2002. The precinct houses a May Gibbs Display. (creator of children’s novels Snugglepot & Cuddlepie) May lived in Harvey for 2 years at it is believed that while she was living in the area the Gumnut baby characters inspired her.
Walk through the Interpretive displays of our local industries, Harvey Fresh, Harvey Beef, Harvey Water, Alcoa, Simcoa, Millennium and Harvey River Bridge Estate. The popular ‘Moo Shoppe’ is also an attraction for those who enjoy cows. We have the largest range of cow merchandise in the South West. A gift shop, for all occasions will also tempt you for that special gift you have been searching for. The Precinct also houses a South West Tapestry Quilt which is on display for all quilt lovers.
